Je suis née à Nevers, j’ai grandi à Nevers. J’ai appris à lire, à Nevers. Et c’est là que j’ai eu vingt ans.

Sans aucune femme, évidemment. Dans les coulisses, d'ici peu, le chiffre 3 pourrait bien devenir 4 ou 5. Mais toujours pas le moindre signe d'une dame. La France serait-elle devenue totalement masculine sur le terrain présidentiel ? C'est ahurissant...

Quand un enfant rencontre un nouveau mot technique, il mémorise automatiquement son sens par le biais d'une association avec quelque chose qui lui est déjà  familier. Par la suite, l'objet associatif disparaît généralement, car il n'est plus nécessaire. Je me souviens de l'époque où notre fils François apprenait que son petit nom était Chino, et que ce terme était associé [pourquoi ?] aux bas d'homme de couleur bleu. On appelait même notre fils « Chino les bas bleu » mais personne ne savait pourquoi. Aujourd'hui, il m'arrive toujours d'appeler mon fils Chino, sans connaître les origines de ce prénom plutôt italien. Quant aux bas bleu, mystère total pour moi... Quand un adulte rencontre un nouveau mot technique, il réagit comme un enfant. Son cerveau fait un effort pour inventer certaines associations. Un observateur qui connaît déjà le terme en question pourrait être amusé par de telles associations, car il a oublié depuis longtemps ses propres inventio

Le film était “Jules et Jim”. La chanson était “Le tourbillon de la vie” [cliquer ICI ]. Hier soir, il y avait une grande émission fascinante sur l'autre grande comédienne française, Jeanne Moreau . Aujourd'hui, je me rends compte avec étonnement que ces deux créatures superbes sont devenus de grandes dames, chacune à sa manière admirable. A la place de "Jules et Jim" et des deux Maria, on pourrait imaginer un nouveau film : "Brigitte et Jeanne".

A mon avis, François Fillon ne pourra pas sortir intact de l'imbroglio dans lequel il se trouve. Il aura été président de France pendant moins de temps qu'il faut pour manger un bol de carottes cuites. Not only does he believe in God; he also believes in automobiles, and knows how to handle them in the city of Le Mans, where he was born. At the height of his glory as a Right-wing presidential candidate, he gave the wheel of his automobile to his wife Penelope … who rapidly steered her husband into a big pile of mud on the track, which seems to be clogging up his engine. They've drawn to a halt by the side of the track, where they're trying to figure out if they can restart their vehicle. As an observer, with little experience of this kind of situation, I would say that the answer is definitely no. I fear they've screwed up the engine. But one never knows.

Like Many Americans, I watched Donald Trump’s speech at CIA headquarters on Saturday with fear and trepidation.   Then I went and printed out a transcript and that is when the true horror of his remarks began to sink in. Mike Pence got things off to a good start by characterizing himself and his family as humbled to be in the office of vice-president.   I am definitely no supporter of Pence’s views on women and reproductive rights as well as a host of other positions, but at least he was gracious and humble in front of the people his boss has been denigrating and insulting for the last several weeks.   Pence used the word humbled again when speaking of himself standing in front of that “hallowed wall” at Langley where those 117 people are commemorated who gave their lives in service to the country.   His remarks seemed scripted, and he remained on script.   He kept the evil under wraps.   Then Trump took over.
